Week 3: @ Kansas City Chiefs

Naturally, the Baltimore Ravens will be seeking revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs after falling to them in 2018. The Chiefs made it all the way to the AFC Championship game behind the arm of reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes guided one of the best offenses of the 2010s while throwing for over 5,000-yards and tossing 50 touchdowns in just his first-year as a starter. Considering Mahomes is entering just his third professional season, Kansas City’s championship window is wide-open.

Even with all of this in mind, the Ravens went stride-for-stride with the Chiefs and nearly pulled out a big-time statement win. Baltimore went into Kansas City in 2018 after making the switch from Joe Flacco to Lamar Jackson at quarterback. The Ravens nearly went 7-0 during Jackson’s new tenure as the team’s franchise quarterback, but the Chiefs had other plans.

Instead, Baltimore melted down when it mattered most and watched the Chiefs beat them 27-24 in overtime. It was against Kansas City that the Ravens weaknesses became much more apparent, which would lead to their downfall in the 2018 season’s playoffs.

In 2019, Baltimore will be headed back to Kansas City for a rematch early on in the year. Even with the Ravens’ losses this off-season, particularly on defense, they could still give the Chiefs a run for their money.

Should Jackson continue to progress as a passer, he could terrorize Kansas City all-day. Barring some kind of major transformation, the Chiefs yielded an extraordinary-bad defense in 2018, and they only lost more pieces during the off-season. Considering Jackson could be the league’s most dynamic player, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him have a field day against these Kansas City Chiefs.
