3. Average 5 yards per carry:

Edwards shouldn’t worry about the total number of yards he picks up. If he becomes a more complete running back he will get more touches. If he focuses on consistently picking up chunks of yards on the ground, the total number of yards will take care of itself. Last season Edwards was able to work at an excellent rate of 5.2 yards per carry. Edwards should try to keep up this kind of pace in 2019.

Four yards per pop is a decent goal for any running back. Four yards every time means that three carries picks up a first down. It’s a healthy average for a running back, that signals that feeding him the ball is never a bad idea. Five yards per carry is a good guiding goal for the young running back. Edwards goals should all point to the same thing, not going backwards. Edwards wants to be the next Jamal Lewis in Baltimore, not the next Alex Collins. Five yards per carry for a full season would give him a chance to put up monster numbers.

The three goals here for Edwards make the perfect compass for him this season. Everything he does should be geared towards being the guy with the football in his hands the most on running plays. Edwards has big time potential. He needs to go get it.
