Baltimore Ravens Fantasy Football profiles: Willie Snead
Willie Snead may not be the sexiest name for Fantasy Football, but there’s more than meets the eye with his value in 2019.
Willie Snead was far from inspiring in his first season as a Baltimore Raven, recording just 62 receptions for 650 receiving yards and a single touchdown. It’s hard to blame Snead for his lackluster stat line. After all, he was the team’s third receiver behind Michael Crabtree and John Brown.

Still, Snead proved valuable as a possession receiver with solid hands. With a new offense built around speed and your, Willie Snead will provide the Ravens with a savvy vet who can be a consistent option for Lamar Jackson to rely on.
This why Willie Snead has some sneaky Fantasy football value for the 2019 season.
Maybe you’re laughing at the thought of this, but hear me out… What Willie Snead can provide in the passing game is something that gets overlooked. The offense needs someone to count on for the tough, gritty yards and a first down machine.
Because of this, Willie Snead could be a sneaky play in a PPR formatted league. Don’t be surprised to see Snead lead the Baltimore Ravens in receptions this season. There’s legitimate upside for Snead to be a FLEX worthy option in PPR leagues. A safe bet seems to be somewhere around 60 receptions, but if everything clicks Snead could have closer to 80.
Better yet, when Snead was with the New Orleans Saints, Snead was actually a surprisingly effective deep threat with yards after catch ability. In a new Ravens offense that wants to spread out the offense, perhaps Snead could recapture some of that success.
With all this in mind, we have to be honest and understand that all this is just talk about upside. Therefore, without any proof that he can reach that potential, the safer bet is to imagine Willie Snead as a chain-moving, check-down receiver. Bet on right reception numbers but low YPR and a lack of touchdowns. Snead is definitely better suited as sleeper option or someone to monitor as a waiver wire target.
Final projections: 65 receptions, 700 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns
