Here are three questions for the Baltimore Ravens offense heading into their preseason battle with the Green Bay Packers:

1. Will a left guard step up?

The Baltimore Ravens are hoping they don’t have a left guard problem, yet according to all reports coming out of training camp this position battle could go a number of different ways. There have been reported by Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun that Patrick Mekari has gotten some work with the starters this week. Mekari was an undrafted free agent out of Cal and he all the sudden is in the running for a starting job.

That’s not a great look for players like Jermaine Eluemunor, Ben Powers and James Hurst. They all have been players who have been vying for this job all training camp long.

The Ravens didn’t exactly make the interior of the offensive line a priority this offseason. They were linked to Garrett Bradbury, the center out of N.C. State in the NFL Draft. Eric DeCosta surprised a lot of people in the football world when he waited to the fourth round to draft an interior offensive lineman. Powers has shown some good, yet he hasn’t eased the concern at this position.

The Ravens need an offensive lineman to step up and be the left guard. They need a player to make their name stick above the competition. The number one thing to look out for against the Packers is how much work Mekari gets. We haven’t been talking about him, yet he is a player who has a big opportunity in front of him.

Powers and Mekari are the two players fans should zone in on. The jury is out on James Hurst. He is who he is. He is a great backup and player who can be plugged in at guard and tackle for serviceable play. Eluemunor was raw when he was drafted in 2017 and he could be coming into his own, yet we have a good idea of what he brings to the table. The two rookies competing for a starting job have a lot of pressure to perform.
