The Baltimore Ravens continued their preseason winning ways with a 26-13 win over the Green Bay Packers. What were some key takeaways?

The Ravens won their 15th consecutive preseason contest last night over the Green Bay Packers 26-13 Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium. In a contest where fans were hoping to see Aaron Rodgers against the Ravens vaunted defense had to settle for DeShone Kizer leading the Pack attack.

The Ravens first team defense had a nice night overall and didn’t concede a point. They did however suffer the team’s most costly injury to date (outside of the game) as starting cornerback Tavon Young could be out for the season what is being termed a neck injury.

The fourth year corner will miss the entire season for the second time in his career after missing the 2017 season with a torn ACL. I am not going to use the term injury prone for Young but it is concerning that he has struggled to stay healthy half of his tenure in the league. Young was rewarded this past offseason with a three year $25M contract this offseason and now the Ravens will be forced to go with other options in their nickel/slot position.

It would make for a nice hometown story for Cyrus Jones to step into that spot. The Baltimore native and Gilman School standout has been primarily a special teamer in his NFL career but could factor into the replacement strategy for the Ravens. He got roasted last night on a consistent basis attempting to fill that role. Maybe he had a bad night and can bounce back but his first audition to fill the opening didn’t go well.

Seeing Chris Board leave with a concussion allowed Kenny Young to turn in a nice performance. In a position where the Ravens lack depth however, this was a not a good sign at all. Board has a few weeks to get right before the season opener but an inexperienced player losing reps is never a great thing.
