Marquise Brown makes his debut:

Second biggest takeaway last night was the performance of first round pick Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Brown took the playing field for the first time in the preseason and looked the part hauling in all three targets for 17 yards. He did get stuffed on a jet sweep, but let’s forget about that for a second.

He looked quick and showed ability to snatch an inaccurate pass out of the air with strong hands. It was frustrating not to see Lamar Jackson on the field with Hollywood, but his performance last night was exactly what everyone wanted to see from the Oklahoma product. The combination of him and Miles Boykin is giving Ravens fans goosebumps. Boykin hauled in a pass from McSorley and turned it into a 44 yard gain down the left sideline.

Jaleel Scott continues to impress and Michael Floyd turned in his best performance of the preseason. Chris Moore has caught every pass thrown his way this preseason. Maybe the Cincinnati product has figured it out and will contribute this year. Justice Hill remains ELECTRIC. It was a good night overall for Ravens playmakers.

It was not, however, a very good night for the Ravens offensive line. Pat Mekari had a false start. Matt Skura had a holding negating a big play from Hill. Applefield and Powers both also added holding penalties. While Applefield doesn’t figure to make the 53, the others are all players that are likely to have a role on the 2019 Ravens, especially Skura and Powers.

This group wasn’t just committing penalties, they were man handled all night by the Eagles front. McSorley’s performance is further commendable considering how consistently he found himself on the run. The assumed first team group of Ronnie Stanley, Jermaine Eluemunor, Skura, Marshal Yanda, and Orlando Brown Jr have played very little together this preseason which is a huge concern for me. We’ll see how they look in a few weeks.
