3. How this affects the roster math:

It’s a good day to be named Patrick Mekari, because he probably just made the 53 man roster. Mekari is an undrafted free agent who has impressed enough to get some work with the starters in training camp. He is now a little less expendable. There were a lot of people doubting whether or not Eluemunor was the answer at left guard. There was nobody though, who thought he wouldn’t be part of the 53 man roster.

Eight seems like the right number on the offensive line. One of the players who was considered a lock for the roster is now out of the equation. This is good news for anybody who was on the back end of the offensive line group. Whether or not you thought Bradley Bozeman or Mekari was on the roster bubble, this move probably puts them on the 53 man roster. It’s hard to imagine the Ravens keeping less than eight players for the offensive line group. Ronnie Stanley, Ben Powers, Matt Skura, Marshal Yanda and Orlando Brown Jr. make up the best possible starting five. James Hurst, Bozeman and Mekari should be the three reserves for the unit.

This was a big trade. There is a lot to process, because it was so sudden. It could be a good thing that gets the Ravens offensive line where it needs to be. It’s also good news for a couple of bubble players. Those are the three main takeaways from this trade.
