The Baltimore Ravens don’t have many quality wide receivers in their history, let only one-hit wonders, but Marquise Brown is here to stay and dominate.

We see it all too often; a player comes out of absolutely nowhere for a stellar game (Kevin Ogletree) or season (Laurent Robinson) and then are never heard from again. Similarly, we see the Baltimore Ravens bring in wide receivers on a yearly basis and watch them disappear. Well, Marquise Brown is here to put that case to rest and to show he’s not a one-and-done player.

In case you missed it, Marquise Brown, otherwise known as “Hollywood,” exploded in his first career NFL game. Brown took his first two catches to the end-zone for 47- and 83-yards respectively. He would end the day with four receptions for 147-yards and two touchdowns. As far as rookie debuts go, you’d be hard-pressed to find many better than that.

Still, some will be left wondering whether or not Brown will fizzle out fast… Let’s put this to rest: The production Marquise Brown put up week one vs. the Miami Dolphins is entirely unsustainable. There’s simply no receivers who can catch four passes for over 100-yards and multiple scores.

Defenses will plan for Brown better than the Dolphins did moving forward, that’s for sure. Even then, Brown has talent and athleticism that can’t be taught. His speed is rare and his agility is top-notch. This is a guy who had off-season foot surgery, by the way. You’d never know that based on what you saw unless I told you.

Right now, Marquise Brown looks like Tyreek Hill has for the Kansas City Chiefs. The way he effortlessly glides past defenses and the plays he makes with the ball in his hands are insane. It’s too soon to label him like that after one week, but the upside is certainly there.

The NFL and social media eat this kind of stuff up, and it’s going to put a big spotlight on “Hollywood.” Because of this, I firmly believe that he will repeat top performances and highlight reel plays on a regular basis. This doesn’t mean 100+ yards every week, but I do see a future with Marquise Brown as a featured wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens.

Unlike guys before like Breshad Perriman and others, Marquise Brown is special; he has the “it” factor to be great. Brown is cut from a different cloth compared to the receivers that the Baltimore Ravens have taken before him. Simply put, Brown looks like the kind of player who can repeatedly make plays and win games. Brown isn’t a one-hit wonder… Brown is a superstar in the making.
