Ravens lose to Chiefs 33-28: The Good, bad and the ugly
The Bad:
Matt Judon’s horse collar tackle on Patrick Mahomes was really bad. The Ravens got a stop early in the game and Judon’s penalty kept a Chiefs drive alive. It was so unnecessary and after the fact that Judon can’t be forgiven for hat play. Dumb penalties were a purple and black special in this game. There were holding penalties, pass interference penalties, the Ravens really did it all. The Ravens had seven penalties in the game and to be honest it felt like it was more than that. Okay, we have to talk about this defense. (Take a deep breath, we will get though this).

The Ravens allowed the Chiefs to rack up 503 total yards. Patrick Mahomes had 363 of them through the air. Things couldn’t have been easier for the 2018 MVP of the NFL. Mahomes only had 10 incompletions in this game. The Ravens knew that they had an uphill battle and that they were going to give up some plays. They knew this, but this was too easy for the Chiefs. The defense had a horrible time getting off the field on third down. The Chiefs converted on 55 percent of their third down attempts. Baltimore by the way, was at 38 percent on third down. The only reason Baltimore controlled the time of possession statistic was that the Chiefs stuck a lot quicker than them.
Anthony Averett had another frustrating performance. The worst play for Averett was missing a tackle for a loss on Mecole Hardman. Hardman ended up picking up a first down after running across the field, and past all eleven Ravens. When Brandon Carr struggled against the Arizona Cardinals I thought it may have just been a bad game. Carr then had a challenging day against the Chiefs. The Ravens are having huge problems in their secondary and there is no way to get around that fact.
