5. Mark Ingram II

The entire Ravens run game has a chance to get a bounce back game. The Bengals are getting gashed on the ground every week. Mark Ingram only had 44 yards against the Steelers and he averaged less than three yards per carry. It was an uncharacteristic performance by Ingram and the entire Ravens ground game. The Steelers game has a chance to be the statistical outlier of this season. Ingram has churned out at least 70 yards in three of the five games this season and in Pittsburgh was the first time where the run game seemed futile. There is no reason to expect the Ravens to struggle to run the football against a team that struggles to stop the run.

As mentioned already, the Ravens need to win this game convincingly. They have to establish a lead and control the clock as they add to it. One thing that the Ravens have lacked this season is big runs. Ingram has only had three runs over 20 yards and one of them was on the first play from scrimmage, this season. The Ravens need to do a better job a breaking big running plays. This is the week to start doing that. If Baltimore doesn’t see lengthy gains from the ground game, they may not see many of them this season.

The Ravens run game has something to prove. Without Lamar Jackson the rushing numbers wouldn’t look as good as they do. Going into the season running the football seemed to be integral to the team’s identity. Baltimore has to get back to the point where their run game is without question the best in the NFL. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill could factor into this (and they should) but Ingram has to lead the day. This has bounce back game written all over it.
