3. A contender vs. a pretender:

If you would have told me before the season that I would feel completely confident against the Rams, I would have thought you were crazy. I had penciled the Rams game as a loss before the season started. Now, I’m having a hard time believing the Rams can beat the Ravens. The Rams are at best a 10-6 team and they could fall short of the NFL postseason. The Ravens are 8-2, have won six straight games and are currently the number two seed in the AFC.

The Rams have a bad offensive line, an inconsistent defense and a quarterback that has either been exposed or is regressing. The Ravens have a defensive front that can stuff the run and all the sudden is able to create pressure on the quarterback. I like the match up, but even if I didn’t, betting against the Ravens seems like a bad idea. The Ravens are a team that is trending upwards. If they played the Texans at the beginning of the year, that game would have been a close game. It may have even been a win for the Texans. The Ravens have reached a point where they could take Houston down 41-7. I liked the match up against the Texans and look what happened.

The level of confidence in the Ravens has to be higher than the level of confidence in the Rams. The Rams just found a hard fought win over the four win Chicago Bears. The Ravens stomped the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans. The Ravens are a contender. The Rams were a contender last season. Give me the Ravens to win this one 30-17.
