Aaron Donald is the reigning defensive player of the year after winning it in 2017 and 2018 back-to-back. Donald would’ve been the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft if it weren’t for his height (6’1″) concerns. Teams thought his play wouldn’t translate to the NFL because of it, but he’s been nothing short of an absolute wrecking ball when rushing the quarterback and has taken the league by storm.
If there was one weak spot on the Baltimore Ravens offensive line I’d say it’s left guard Bradley Bozeman, mainly because of his inexperience. Bozeman has played well beyond expectations this year and is a good reason the line is playing so well but Donald has a few moves he hasn’t seen before. Aaron Donald is such a smart player and plays with so much torque he’ll give Bozeman fits if he isn’t prepared.
If Donald is lined up opposite Bozeman, like I expect him to be most of the game, Greg Roman would be wise to get him some help in the form of left tackle Ronnie Stanley. With Stanley next to Bozeman, Greg Roman can really mix it up with these double team blocks because the tight ends can pick up the slack if need be. Their entire defensive game plan is centered around stopping Aaron Donald so hopefully, it’s enough.
If Bradley Bozeman is able to limit Aaron Donald from taking over the game it’ll result in a Ravens win, guaranteed. This is the biggest key to winning the game Monday night because if the line plays well, Lamar Jackson plays well and if Jackson plays well, the Ravens win. Monday night is a chance for Bozeman to prove to the team and league that he’s a legit starter in this league so let’s see if he’s ready for the spotlight.
