The Ugly:

Okay, it’s the appropriate section of the post to talk about the 40-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns. This game was a disaster. The Browns put up 530 yards of offense in this game, 190 of them coming on the ground. Nick Chubb had 165 yards and three touchdowns and he only did it in 20 carries. Jarvis Landry had eight receptions for 167 yards. Lamar Jackson had two interceptions and Mark Ingram had a costly fumble. It may have been the worst defensive effort in team history. Tackling was a rare sight in that game. That game was what most reviews said the new movie Cats is. It was that bad.

The Ravens cut Tim Williams after the Browns game. This was a player that was a third round pick out of Alabama. He was supposed to be a steal for the Ravens, yet he was easily the laziest run defender on the edge I have ever seen. The loss fueled a lot of positive changes, yet coming to hard truths a month into the season is never a beautiful moment. The game was a Super Bowl for the Browns and it looked like the Ravens were sleep walking through it. It had everything. It had an embarrassing result, a locker room spat between Earl Thomas and Brandon Williams, and an after the fact roster shake up. The 40-25 affair gives new meaning to the term “season-changing” loss.

It wasn’t a perfect season, but I’m running out of things to complain about. The Ravens have had the best season in franchise history and now they must cap it off with a Super Bowl. That’s the kind of team the Ravens are; a team that has to win it all because they should win it all. One way or another, this was easily the most entertaining season in Ravens history and it wasn’t even close.
