The Baltimore Ravens could use a wide receiver or two in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft and no receiver fits what the team wants better than Denzel Mims.

Of all the wide receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft, none have shined brighter than Denzel Mims, and the Baltimore Ravens should take serious notice of this kid. The 22-year old wide receiver out of Baylor had a very productive career with the Bears, notching just shy of 3,000 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns over his four seasons in Waco, Texas.

Still, despite his production Mims was overlooked as a draft prospect. Was it because he played against inferior competition in the Big-12 Conference? Maybe it was that Baylor’s offense is high-octane and he was just a product of their system. Whatever the reasoning was it’s been forgotten about pretty quickly, as his rise in the 2020 NFL Draft ranks has been meteoric.

More from Ebony Bird

It all started at the 2020 Senior Bowl, where Denzel Mims was balling out every day at practices. It didn’t matter who was lining up opposite him, because Mims was gonna fight you for the ball and come down with it every time. Sure, this year’s defensive back group isn’t particularly strong, but Mims was out there making them look like boys against a man.

It wasn’t just in one-on-one drills, either, as Denzel Mims was beastly as a run blocker; something that he takes a lot of pride in doing. Many receivers stood out in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl and Mims was certainly one of them.

Now that he had our attention, Mims went into Indianapolis, Indiana for this year’s NFL Combine and put on a show. Mims ran a blazing 4.38 40-yard dash time, a 6.66 three-cone drill, and jumped 131″ in the broad jump. His athleticism was on complete display for the league and hopefully, the Baltimore Ravens saw this and said to themselves, “Wow, this is our guy.”

Based on everything we’ve touched on how can you disagree? The 6’3″ 207-lbs. receiver has everything that Baltimore covets at the position. Mims has a big frame, great speed, and is loves to run block. What more could you ask for in a Baltimore Ravens wide receiver?

With the crew they have in place, Denzel Mims would fit in perfectly. Marquise Brown would be able to move into the slot full-time where he thrived and dominated his competition. Mims would rotate with Willie Snead and Miles Boykin, the latter of whom would team with Mims and give Baltimore some serious height outside to throw to. All in all, the Ravens should be all over getting Mims onto their team.

Next. Day one 2020 NFL Combine for Baltimore Ravens: Wide receivers shine. dark

The way Denzel Mims is made up has me thinking he would look pretty good in purple and black. The fact that he loves to run block is more than enough reason to believe this, but he’s got a mentality that the Baltimore Ravens should fall in love with, plus the production and athleticism to match. There’s plenty of wide receivers that would be a good fit in Baltimore in the 2020 NFL Draft, but none of them are as seemingly meant to be as Denzel Mims.
