James Proche player comp from Ravens past: Michael Campanaro

The Ravens don’t have a great player comp for Proche. I considered Brandon Stokely, but Proche is only being typecast to that because of his size. I thought about Jermaine Lewis because he is a return specialist, however, Proche and Lewis aren’t all that similar. Proche is most comparable to Michael Campanaro. Campanaro was quicker than he was fast and he was dangerous when he got the football. That’s Proche to a tee. Let’s call Proche a presumably more durable Campanaro with a higher upside.

If the NFL let the Ravens find a diamond in the rough here, if that’s really what happened, Proche could be the next Antonio Brown. He was a very leaned on receiver at SMU who made plays all over the place and in so many different ways. It should be noted that he has a real chance to be better than Campanaro ever was. The worst thing about Campanaro is that we never really got to see what he could be because he had the absolute worst luck in the entire world when it came to injuries. Fans really hyped up Campanaro at the time and there seems to be a lot of buzz about Proche. Baltimore has to hope Proche has better luck than Campanaro when it comes to injuries.

Campanaro and Proche have quickness and the ability to make the most out of every catch. Campanaro was a dangerous punt returner and Proche certainly has the chance to be one himself. Both players here are incredibly undersized. Campanaro was 5-9 and a skinny 5-9 at that. Proche is listed at 5-11 and weighs 193 pounds. These players have the same limitations and similar strengths. That’s why I chose Campanaro as Proche’s player comp, even with other names coming to mind.
