Sign Eric Reid :

If the Baltimore Ravens are hellbent on signing a free agent safety to fill the void left by Earl Thomas, then Eric Reid is your guy.

Reid, a first-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers, has been a stable veteran since coming into the league back in 2013. The former LSU star is a sure open-field tackler with a tone-setting attitude to match. Reid may not have the most interceptions year-in and year-out (one interception over the last two seasons), but he’s dependable in coverage. This late in the game, you can’t ask for much more.

The biggest question right now is why is Eric Reid still available? It’s more than likely having to do with his political stances when it comes to the National Anthem if we’re being honest. Reid is still only 28-years old and is coming off a career-best season with 130 tackles and four sacks. He may not be the rangiest defender in the world, but he’s a sure tackler and an upgrade over what the roster currently has. Reid would likely come in on the vet’s minimum, too, so he wouldn’t cost you much money that you just lost when you cut Thomas.

All in all, there are a few solid options out there for the Baltimore Ravens to explore in their search to replace Earl Thomas. The Ravens will likely work with their young group before going out and shopping for a replacement. If they did decide to look around, these are the guys I’d keep an eye on.
