Baltimore Ravens: Week 2 Fantasy Football Predictions
By Jake Lippman
Defense/Special Teams
Analysis–
Against Cleveland week one the Ravens defense was a nightmare for Baker Mayfield. Letting just over 300 total yards and under 200 passing yards. The team only had two sacks but had one interception and two fumbles. Last season Baltimore shut down the Houston offense and took advantage of an inexperienced offensive line. That line is practically the same and Houston lost their number one target.
Last week the Texans faced Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs and struggled. Mahomes was efficient and threw three touchdowns and rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire put on a show in his debut. The Texans defense has talent but not that much depth. With less star power on their defense this season, they will need to gameplan very effectively to see success this week. Looking at their roster they have some talented players but have a clear lack of support for Deshaun Watson.
The Texans secondary is also weak and the Ravens will look to beat them over the top.The Texans will look to take advantage of the obvious weakness they had last week in run defense. If they can expose that weakness then Houston has a chance to keep the game very close. Look for rookie JK Dobbins, who looked good last week and Mark Ingram who was fairly silent, to run better on Sunday. Both teams have weaknesses, but each will look to expose linebacker corps which will be the decision maker for this game. That is where the turnover battle and sack total differential will be found this week.
Prediction:
Baltimore– 375 total yards, one interception, five sacks
Houston– 500 total yards, two sacks
Kickers
Analysis–
Justin Tucker is the best kicker in the NFL. Last week was nothng new, perfect. This week hopefully this will continue. Even though the Ravens don’t settle for field goals with frequency, they can feel confident if he is needed. Fairbairn is a solid kicker but missed his only field goal last week and last season against the Ravens. I think Fairbairn returns to form and hits an easy chip in this week. The real impact these guys make will be in eliminating the opportunity for big returns and good field position for the opposing offenses.
Prediction:
Justin Tucker– 4/4 XPs, 1/1 FG, Long 42 yards = Eight Fantasy points
Ka’imi Fairbairn– 2/2 XPs, 1/1 FG, Long 38 yards = Two Fantasy points
Final Game Score Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 31 Houston Texans 17
