Power rankings: Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs fight for top spot
By Darin McCann
8. Los Angeles Rams, 2-0 (14)
I did not anticipate them being this good, but here we are. They whipped the Eagles and Jared Goff is looking very solid to this point. They are my early surprise team thus far.
7. Tennessee Titans, 2-0 (7)
The Titans managed to top a better-than-expected Jaguars team, 33-30. They are winning games, but not looking like the team that had a terrific playoff run a year ago. Getting wins while figuring things out is a good thing, though.
6. Seattle Seahawks, 2-0 (8)
I am not yet sold on this defense, particularly against the pass or rushing the quarterback, but that offense… oh, that offense! Russell Wilson is indeed cooking, and he has receivers all over the place. Sign me up for that first Seahawks-Cardinals game. The NFC West is going to be a scrum.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers, 2-0 (9)
Big Ben is looking better and better, and he also has targets everywhere. And that Steelers pass-rush is terrifying for opposing quarterbacks. This team is a contender if they stay healthy, but they need to clean up some things to keep teams from hanging around and stealing some games.
