Running Back

Analysis-

These rooms have recently been a mess for these two teams. Although loaded with talent the Ravens haven’t quite had clear trends. J.K. Dobbins was the Ravens leading rusher week one, but week two Mark Ingram took the reins and Gus Edwards led the way with yards. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, ran for over 100 yards in week one, but then struggled in Week two. The Chiefs also have Darrel Williams who can catch and run effectively.

Looking at last seasons match up, this group looked very different for the Chiefs. Darrel Williams led the way and LeSean McCoy did the rest of the brunt work. They carried for a combined 17 times but were effective. Now with a first round rookie in the fold, the Ravens have something new to plan for. Ingram and Edwards both had great games last season against this team including Ingram’s 100 yards and three touchdowns. He was also involved in the passing game. With the addition of a high ranked rookie the Chiefs also have something new to game plan for.

If the Ravens can stop the Chiefs running backs then they will be able to make the Chiefs one dimensional quickly. The Chiefs will try and use Edwards-Helaire and Williams in space and make the Ravens inexperienced linebackers make mistakes. The Ravens will use a rotation of their running backs and may get Justice Hill back. They will lean on the hot hand so it is hard to guess who will do the most damage.

If the running backs run with effectiveness then each team will be very happy. They care more importance this week, because these teams want to limit how much their defenses play. That starts in the running game with some solid fantasy options.
