Defense/ST and Kickers

Analysis-

Both of these defenses have done a good job thus far limiting points. The Ravens defense has looked downright dominate at times, while the Chiefs look much improved. With MVP quarterbacks going to battle, the better defense wins this game. Between Chris Jones and the rest of the defensive front, the Chiefs will look to contain Jackson and try to limit his running as he was a threat in last years match up. The Ravens and their banged up secondary will look to keep the Chiefs in front of them.

In a game with big moments, expect some big plays. Marcus Peters, plays his best in primetime and this is a sort of “revenge game” for him. I expect him to make a big play, pick six? Jackson has also been extremely efficient and accurate this season, it may be time that he makes a mistake under the lights on prime time.

I expect these defenses to both account for three sacks and a turnover, in a game that is expected to be a quarterback dual, I believe this game may be a little defensive at parts. A big defensive play can shift momentum and change the game. These units will be relied upon and there are very talented players on both sides. Look for this to be a coaching dual between Andy Reid and his former special teams coordinator John Harbaugh. In a chess match like this defenses become the most important part of the game.

On the other hand, special teams are important to this game in determining where the opposing offense starts with the ball. The Ravens have the edge here, but both of these kickers are accurate and effective. They can hit from long and place kickoffs wherever they would like. Their impact will be felt as the defenses hold the offense to a field goal or two and these guys are almost automatic. Look forward to a few special teams highlights, as both of these teams have good return units and emphasize good, reliable special teams.

Prediction: With the total offense in this game going to equal around 900 total yards; both defenses will need big plays in order to win this game. The turnover margin will be the focal point in this game. I believe each team will throw one interception; along with that whichever team can recover a fumble will win this game, I think the Ravens can get to Mahomes for three-four sacks and the Chiefs defense will probably also have two-three sacks. Whichever team has a fumble recovery or special teams play may win this game. If you have these defenses and can start someone else, you should.
