The Ravens have seen three corners end up on IR over the first half of the season, and the lack of depth beyond their two All-Pro corners has started to become noticeable. Jimmy Smith is still an option, but Don Martindale prefers to use him at safety at times, which puts even more reliance on inexperienced players like Terrell Bonds and Khalil Dorsey. Lucky for Baltimore, the New York Jets are very much out of contention at this point, and if anything, would prefer to help their cause towards securing top draft position to select Trevor Lawrence in next year’s draft, meaning top corner Brian Poole is very much available.

The Florida product is scheduled to be a free agent after the season, and checks in with a ~$5-million cap hit according to OverTheCap. While it would take a little bit of maneuvering to make the math check out, the Ravens would ultimately be able to fit Poole into the mix, and he would go a long way towards capping off an otherwise-impressive defense.

If Eric DeCosta can’t find a deal to his liking for offensive help, further stacking one of the league’s best defenses is the next best bet towards trying to gear this team up for a Super Bowl run. Pro Football Focus gives Poole a 77.0 overall player grade for his work so far in 2020, which, for perspective, is just 3 points lower than Marlon Humphrey.
