3. Don’t discount the impact of coaching in this one:

The Ravens have had the upper hand on Mike Vrabel’s Titans in the regular season, winning a game in Tennessee in 2018. The Titans had the upper hand on John Harbaugh’s Ravens when it mattered in the playoffs last season. That playoff game is the one that feels like it has relevance going into Sunday. In that playoff game, Vrabel outcoached Harbaugh.

We only have to revisit that painful night for a moment, Ravens fans. In that game, the Ravens struggled to pick up fourth-down conversions, leaving a lot of points on the field.  The Titans refused the Ravens their comfort zone. The things that were easy for the full 2019 season were just not there on that night. The Ravens got hit in the mouth and they didn’t recover or find the right adjustment. They panicked. Will this game have lingering effects?

Look for the Ravens to try to get off to a fast start. John Harbaugh will most likely come into this game determined to prevent what happened last January. Will this work to the Ravens advantage? Or perhaps will this add pressure to the Ravens? Could it work against the Titans? What if the Titans come in with the same game plan and the Ravens surprise them? There are a lot of questions like this that can be asked. The chess match of emotions and gamesmanship is just as interesting as the x’s, o’s, and game-planning.

This game is huge for both teams. It could help shape the wild card competition as we get ready for the home stretch of the season. There will be a lot of focus on Lamar Jackson and Ryan Tannehill. There will be a lot of focus on how the Ravens defend Derrick Henry. Give some thought to the coaching matchup here.
