Ravens vs. Chiefs: 5 key matchups to watch in Week 2
By Jihad Miller
3. Patrick Queen vs. Andy Reid
Andy Reid is one of the greatest offensive minds in football. He always finds ways to create mismatches and exploit the weaknesses of the opposing defense.
This week, Patrick Queen will have his hands full trying to decipher Reid’s play calls.
Queen is blessed with exceptional speed and sometimes it is used against him. In last season’s matchup against the Chiefs, Reid used a bunch of misdirections and exotic screens to confuse the young linebacker.
It was one of Queen’s worst games as a Raven, however, he put in the work this offseason to be better in pass coverage and quicker with his reads.
This was evident last week against the Raiders. There were several times when Queen sniffed out plays that could have resulted in huge gains.
Queen is playing a lot faster and more confident so far this year. He is trusting the work that he put in this offseason and in the film that he has watched.
The Ravens will also need Queen to help contain Travis Kelce, arguably the best tight end in football. He has his work cut out for him in this game.
Reid will do everything he can to try to confuse him, however, Queen will not make the same rookie mistakes he made last year.
