The Baltimore Ravens were hoping to see the return of Lamar Jackson in Week 17. But for the third consecutive week, the team’s star quarterback is inactive.

The Ravens have released their official inactive list ahead of their Week 17 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams and Jackson is among those listed. The others include Anthony Averett, Ben Powers, Odafe Oweh, James Proche, Miles Boykin, and Pernell McPhee.

Jackson suffered an ankle injury in the team’s Week 14 loss to the Cleveland Browns when he had his ankle rolled up early in the second quarter. The Ravens were forced to turn to Tyler Huntley who would start in his place the following week.

After a one-week stint on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, Huntley is back and will start today against the Rams with Josh Johnson, who started a week ago, serving as his backup.

Lamar Jackson will not play for the Ravens in Week 17

With their playoff hopes on the line, the Ravens will need all hands on deck to beat the Rams this week. They’ll need a repeat performance from Huntley who shined when given the opportunity to start two weeks ago.

But perhaps just as important will be the performance of the team’s secondary. With Averett out, the Ravens are really hurting at cornerback and it’ll be up to the likes of Chris Westry, Jimmy Smith, Tavon Young, and others to slow down one of the NFL’s best passing offenses.

It could be another long day for the Ravens defense, especially with Oweh out as well. The Ravens defense could struggle to limit the likes of Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and the Rams offense.

Jackson returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday providing optimism that he’d be able to play this week. That was until he was held out of practice on both Thursday and Friday with his status listed as questionable going into today’s game.

That marked the third consecutive week that Jackson had been listed as questionable on the final injury report. Unfortunately, this also marks three straight weeks that Jackson has been inactive.

The Ravens will hold out hope that Lamar Jackson can return in time for Week 18. But for now, they’ll have to lean on Tyler Huntley once again.
