Eyeing an upgrade at the center position, the Ravens opted to shift left guard Bradley Bozeman over to his natural position of center prior to the start of the 2021 season.

It was unclear exactly what to expect from Bozeman who had been a serviceable if not unspectacular starting guard over the last two seasons.

He was a decent player, but how would he fare playing a position he hadn’t played since college? As it turns out, it was the best decision the Ravens could have made.

Bozeman flourished playing his natural center position putting together easily the best season of his career, and in a contract year no less. The former Alabama standout finished with a Pro Football Focus grade of 73.3 that ranked 11th at his position.

His previous best PFF grade prior to this year was just 63.8. Only five centers in the league finished with a PFF pass-block and run-block grade north of 70.0. Bozeman was among those players.

Now a pending free agent, Bozeman is arguably the Ravens’ most valuable player set to hit the open market. With holes at other spots on the offensive line, this team can ill-afford to lose a player who was arguably their best offensive lineman in 2021.

Bozeman has made himself invaluable, and it’s all because of the major improvements he made this season.
