Ravens’ Player No. 3: Tyler Badie

It’s 2022. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards suffered setbacks in their recoveries and are sitting out at the beginning of the season. The Ravens opt to return to last year’s running back by committee approach, using a combination of veteran Mike Davis and Tyler Badie.

While Davis could be considered the more dependable back, his ceiling is capped and he’ll assume the same role Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray had last year — that of a solid but not a game-changing ball-carrier.

Enter Tyler Badie. The 2022 sixth-round pick got plenty of opportunities in minicamp workouts and has made the most of them so far. Badie has the explosion and football IQ to run the ball effectively in the offensive scheme and also has been effective out of the backfield as a receiver.

There’s a chance Badie could fizzle out similar to how former Ravens back Ty’Son Williams did by the middle of the 2021 season, but Badie’s upside makes him particularly valuable in 2022 and the rookie could see an influx of snaps if Dobbins or Edwards aren’t healthy come September.
