In a couple of short days, the Baltimore Ravens will depart with various talented players who could contribute in 2025. Whether it be reliable veterans, a stacked undrafted rookie class, or other young players making waves in the preseason, many will be cut by NFL roster cutdown day.
Fortunately, several of those cuts will have the opportunity to return to Baltimore on the practice squad. There are 16 spots open on the squad, and these three players should be granted a spot if they clear waivers.
3 Ravens who must stay on the Ravens practice squad
Jayson Jones
Undrafted rookie defensive lineman Jayson Jones just wrapped up an encouraging preseason showing. He was a force up the middle, tallying seven tackles, and was a stout run defender on Baltimore’s lights-out defensive unit over the past three weeks.
There is no opening for Jones on the roster by Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. The Ravens even have depth options like C.J. Ravenell and C.J. Okoye, who will likely get cut, as well. However, after the types of performances they put on, they might not clear waivers. That makes the need for Jones that much more crucial.
In Jones, Baltimore could have a natural space-eating nose tackle on the interior. He is a mauler, eats blocks, and is already on the rise. He feasted on the opposing offensive line against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, and is showing every ounce of potential the team could want in a potential nose tackle of the future.

Anthony Miller
Wide receiver Anthony Miller quickly earned trust down from the coaching staff and quarterback Lamar Jackson down the stretch of the 2024 season. The stats do not jump off the page–only one catch for 16 yards in two regular season contests, and four receptions for 28 yards in two playoff games. However, he is a reliable depth option.
A former second-round draft pick in 2018, Miller has had a disappointing career. However, since joining the Ravens in 2024 after not playing a down of regular season play since 2021, the 30-year-old is finding a bit of a career revival. He is not contributing much in terms of production, but a veteran wideout who can help younger players develop is invaluable.
Dayton Wade
Speaking of younger players, second-year wideout Dayton Wade is someone who can learn a lot from Miller. Wade was one of Baltimore’s more dynamic receivers this preseason, and while he will not make the 53-man roster, he is more than deserving of a practice squad spot.
In 2024, Wade was re-signed to the team’s practice squad. He took a step up in training camp and preseason action, so there is a chance he gets snapped up on waivers, but if he does clear, he should be one of the first guys the Ravens bring back.
The 24-year-old went for 60 yards on five receptions over the past three weeks. His preseason was cut short, injuring his shoulder in Week 3 against the Washington Commanders, but he showed enough to stay in Charm City.
Of course, some of these players could be snatched up on waivers, but there is a strong likelihood they could return on the practice squad.
