3 free-agent pass rushers the Ravens must pursue to help revive their defense

The Baltimore Ravens have a long list of priorities this offseason. It all starts with finding the heir to 18-year head coach John Harbaugh, who the team fired two days after their season ended. Harbaugh is expected to sign a lucrative deal with the New York Giants, kicking off what should be an exciting month or two of coach hirings.

The Ravens also have many pending free agents on their plate. We are two months away from free agency, and the team’s front office will have to ensure players like Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum are locked in on new deals before bidding wars commence. They also have plenty of depth options they’ll need to satisfy with extensions.

Perhaps the most crucial part of Baltimore’s offseason will be how they attack free agency. After a severely underwhelming 2025 campaign, countless cracks were revealed throughout their roster.

One of those cracks was the pass rush unit, which failed to account for much pressure. The Ravens finished tied for third-worst in the NFL with 30 sacks in regular-season action. They need some help coming off the edge to complement rookie outside linebacker Mike Green.

Admittedly, the edge defender class in this year’s free agency isn’t uber-talented, but these three pending free agents could help satisfy Baltimore’s need for more pass rush production.

3 pass rushers the Ravens could pursue in free agency

Trey Hendrickson

Trey Hendrickson is the heavy hitter. He spent the last five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, producing at a high level. Before an injury-riddled 2025 that saw him tally only four sacks, he notched 17.5 sacks in back-to-back years.

A move from Cincinnati to Baltimore would be fantastic. Hendrickson has 81 career sacks and is the exact elite threat off the edge the Ravens’ defense needs. He would also provide great leadership for the 22-year-old Green.

Hendrickson is the type of player a team would have to blow their bank for, but for a team like the Ravens, it’d be worth it.

Joey Bosa

In a free agent field where talent isn’t overly abundant, a stable starter like Joey Bosa could make some sense. He may no longer be playing at the multi-time Pro Bowl level he was at earlier in his career, but he proved that he can still be a game-wrecker with the Buffalo Bills this year.

Bosa has consistently recorded at least five sacks when healthy. In 2025, he was good for five sacks and 51 pressures. That would definitely bring a slight boost to a room whose leading sack-getter had just five sacks.

The area Bosa could bring an even bigger boost to is in takeaways. Bosa is a monster when it comes to forcing fumbles, jarring five loose this year, and totaling 22 throughout his 10-year career. In comparison, the Ravens only forced 14 fumbles this year.

Boye Mafe

Ultimately, the Ravens may be going bargain-hunting in free agency. Boye Mafe wouldn’t be the cheapest option, but he could be a player looking to sign a prove-it deal after losing snaps to others on the Seattle Seahawks defensive line in 2025. This could be the perfect option for DeCosta to strike on.

Mafe has been an effective pass rusher since coming into the league in 2022. He has 20 career sacks, which include nine in 2023 and six in 2024. He also finished with 40 pressures this past season, even after becoming a rotational piece midway through the year.

In an instance that the Ravens opt to sign Mafe, they would have plenty more work to do to build a competitive pass rush unit and strong defense. However, Mafe would add more explosiveness off the edge that they desperately need.
