The Baltimore Ravens never stood a chance in Week 8. The football gods were out for them. Lamar Jackson left the game with a thumb injury on the team’s first offensive play, and things ultimately unraveled in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.
It was just miserable. After Jackson and Tyler Huntley got hurt, Baltimore resorted to Joe Fagnano, and it wasn’t a shock they couldn’t move the ball with authority. And while the defense looked better, their typical second-half back-breaking errors made the game unwatchable.
As the Ravens drop to 4-4, here are three winners and five losers from Sunday’s loss.
3 winners and 5 losers from Baltimore Ravens’ Week 8 loss
Loser: Offensive line
Was that the worst offensive line performance to date? 28 pressures, 12 QB hits, 4 sacks, 3 Ravens quarterbacks injured. The offensive front threw their signal callers to the wolves countless times. It wasn’t football — it was target practice for Buffalo’s defense.
Roger Rosengarten and Cam Jurgens probably had the worst of it. Rosengarten didn’t stand a chance against Gregory Rousseau; from the very first snap, the league-leading sack artist was in the backfield. As for Jurgens, he had some clear communication issues, failing to account for free blitzers several times, including the first play of the game.

John Simpson continued to look like a flop of a signing, Andrew Vorhees wasn’t much better, and although Ronnie Stanley was solid, it wasn’t enough to salvage the unit’s performance.
It can’t get worse than that…right?
Winner: Kyle Hamilton
Someone on the defense needed to step up, and Kyle Hamilton did his job. He was third on the team with seven tackles, notched a tackle for loss, and played with the passion we’ve wanted to see from the Ravens defense.
Notably, he had a booming hit on Ty Johnson in the fourth quarter that stopped a Buffalo short of the first-down marker on a 3rd-and-4. Sure, they eventually converted on fourth down, but you get the point.
It was 29-10 on that play. The game was over. Hamilton was still playing like his hair was on fire, though. That’s what Baltimore defense is all about — nonstop physicality no matter the score.
Loser: Marlon Humphrey
From a strong defensive performance to a bad one. Marlon Humphrey was at fault for multiple splash plays in Week 8. It feels like a broken record: Humphrey gets torched time and time again.
Humphrey went through an agonizing drive in the third quarter, where D.J. Moore beat him on a 49-yard reception he really should’ve broken up.
Incredible catch downfield by DJ Moore!

Then, he had his chance to make everyone forget about it on the very next play. Humphrey had an interception right in the numbers, but somehow, in the most Marlon Humphrey way possible, dropped it.
The veteran corner’s coverage hasn’t been good enough this year. Even in the encouraging reps, he doesn’t have the ball skills to break up passes. It feels like every time a pass is floated his way, a contested catch happens more often than not. It’s a serious problem.
Loser: Tyler Loop
Tyler Loop is not the answer at kicker. There was hope early in 2026…not anymore.
Loop kicked off Sunday with a kickoff out of bounds, immediately giving a dangerous Buffalo offense favorable field position. They scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive.
It didn’t stop there. It actually got way worse. On Joe Fagnano’s first drive of his career, he led the offense into field goal range. Unfortunately, it wasn’t close enough for Loop. He’d hit the upright on a 34-yard attempt.
Loop was already facing pressure after the Ravens decided to bring Jake Moody back to the practice squad, and his struggles have continued. He’s 12-for-15 this year, and 4-for-6 over the last three games.
Winner: Chidobe Awuzie
Chidobe Awuzie actually played on Sunday. He logged 43 snaps on defense, rotating with Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins throughout the day. Awuzie played well, too.
The 31-year-old wasn’t part of the defensive problems. He held his own in coverage, broke up a pass, and based on Pro Football Focus’ initial grading, registered an 81.6 overall grade.
After barely playing for most of the season, Awuzie finally got a real chance on a healthy defense, and looked the part. We’ll need more of that from him.
Loser: Mark Andrews
Did you predict another Mark Andrews drop on Sunday? If you did, you’re a winner. Andrews finished with 3 receptions for 14 yards on 4 targets, including a drop.
That drop proved to be costly. It was on a third-and-long, and he had absolutely no shot at converting, but if he caught it, the Loop miss could’ve easily been a make. While it wouldn’t have mattered in the grand scheme of things, you have to make those plays for an undrafted rookie quarterback coming in on the spot.
Andrews also wasn’t dangerous at all. The offensive line was the root of the problem, but Andrews didn’t do much. He’s supposed to be the security blanket, especially for inexperienced QBs, and wasn’t that.
A troubling season continues to slip down a windy road.
Winner: Running backs
Baltimore’s running backs finally got going…somewhat. Derrick Henry ran the ball 11 times for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Justice Hill took 3 carries for 15 yards. They combined for 4.8 yards per carry.
Henry and Hill also had their moments in the passing game. Henry caught two passes for seven yards, and Hill had four receptions for 20 yards. With horrific pass protection and Fagnano running the show, Hill was leaned on heavily through the air, and he did pretty well.
Loser: Zay Flowers
5 targets. 0 receptions. It’s not entirely Zay Flowers’ fault, but when you sign a $140 million contract and are making a case for one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, you have to find a way to make plays. Flowers didn’t do that.
You have to credit Buffalo’s defense for how they handled Flowers. Physicality and double teams were the name of the game, and with what was going on between the quarterback and offensive line, Flowers didn’t have many chances to make a play.
Still, you’re Zay Flowers. 0 receptions is inexcusable. It was the first time in his career he didn’t have a catch in a game.
