After another successful day of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens are prepping for Day 3. They’ve had a bit of a dream scenario fall to them thus far, adding Vega Ioane, Zion Young, and Ja’Kobi Lane, but there’s still work to do. Saturday is where the money is made.
The Ravens will have a lot of chances to knock it out of the park. They have a whopping eight selections left. If he keeps falling, it may feel like Jermod McCoy (Tennessee) has to be one of those picks. Baltimore could use another corner, and McCoy has seen a shocking draft fall. However, there’s a major risk surrounding his health.
After people watched him fall completely out of the first three rounds on Friday night, Yahoo’s Charles Robinson provided an update on what’s causing McCoy to slip. It’s not the ACL tear, and something more alarming: a degenerative cartilage issue in his knee.

Baltimore Ravens staring down major draft decision surrounding Jermod McCoy
On one hand, McCoy, talent-wise, is incredible value at this point. He’s a top-20 player on 99% percent of draft boards. However, learning that news from Robinson, he’s also possibly the biggest risk in the draft. Any time you hear of career-threatening issues, it could all but push a player off your board completely.
The Ravens have to weigh the risk and reward here. Back in 2022, they drafted David Ojabo after he fell to the second round due to a torn Achilles, which obviously didn’t work out. This is much different, though.
It sounds like you could either get one of the top corners in the league or a player who can’t play in the NFL a year down the line. That’s two completely different ends of the spectrum, and many may not deem selecting McCoy worth it given his unfortunate situation. Thankfully, Baltimore has the benefit of having A TON of picks on Day 3.
Of their eight remaining picks, the Ravens have one fourth-rounder, four fifth-rounders, one sixth-rounder, and two seventh-rounders. They could have several chances to draft McCoy, and at the same time, that’s a great deal of ammo to trade up if they believe they’ll have to make such a move to get him.
If McCoy is able to fight off the knee issues and be the dominant player in the NFL, everyone knows he can be when healthy, then the Ravens could be looking at their next star corner to play opposite of Nate Wiggins. He could fill their corner need to perfection. In the same breath, though, if they picked him, it could backfire entirely.
Entering Day 3, McCoy seems like a player worth the risk. Sure, there’s a titanic-sized red flag raised from his prospect profile, but we’re getting to the point where teams are going to take chances on players. Not many prospects are a sure thing at this point. For Baltimore, they should contemplate taking that daring risk for McCoy.
