Ravens' back-to-back draft picks again sidestep a blatantly obvious weakness

The Baltimore Ravens continue to march through their busy afternoon on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. They held three picks in the fifth round, one of which ended up being cornerback Chandler Rivers from Duke. The other two? They went back-to-back with tight end Josh Cuevas from Alabama at No. 173 and running back Adam Randall from Clemson at No. 174.

The two selections of Cuevas and Randall fill needs. General manager Eric DeCosta made it known they’d likely be looking to select two tight ends on Day 3, and after losing Keaton Mitchell in free agency, there was a need for another running back. However, in filling those needs, the Ravens may have overlooked their biggest need: center.

Baltimore came into the draft with 11 picks. Eight picks in, they haven’t addressed the center position. At this point, it’s looking like they might not even draft one, which could be considered a very questionable call.

Baltimore Ravens look past their biggest weakness again in fifth round of 2026 NFL Draft

After losing Tyler Linderbaum in free agency, the Ravens have done very little to fill that void. Sure, they already have Corey Bullock on the roster, and they made a flurry of under-the-radar signings in Jovaughn Gwyn and Danny Pinter. Each of those guys brings versatility across the interior. However, none have really done anything to prove they’re starting-caliber talent. It’s why almost everyone expected the team to draft a center.

Looking at the board entering the sixth round, there’s very little center talent there. The run for centers has come and gone. The best available there are probably Indiana’s Pat Coogan and Duke’s Brian Parker, who has been mentioned as a tackle who can possibly make a switch to center at the NFL level.

The Ravens could very well be fine with the players they have at center right now. I mean, that’s what it looks like, right? DeCosta even talked about the idea of drafting a center following Day 2 of the draft, and his words didn’t exactly scream that he thinks the team absolutely has to draft one.

Luckily, Baltimore brought in one of the best offensive line coaches in the league in Dwayne Ledford this offseason. He could develop one of Bullock, Gwyn, or Pinter into a player whom you can trust to give you starting reps.

Gwyn might be the favorite for that since he played under Ledford with the Atlanta Falcons from 2023 to 2025. He was undoubtedly signed in free agency because of that connection, and to give him credit, he showed growth and finally found himself getting actual reps on offense in 2025 (even though it was just a handful).

The Ravens still have three picks left at this moment. They have a sixth-rounder at No. 211, and two seventh-rounders at No. 250 and No. 253. We’ll have to wait and see how the center situation plays out.
