Heading into Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have done a phenomenal job of addressing their top needs. They made the first-round selection that people had endlessly mocked in Vega Ioane, added a surge of energy off the edge in Zion Young, and brought some size into the wide receiver room in the form of Ja’Kobi Lane.
Baltimore is far from done. They have eight selections from Round 4 to Round 7. It’s going to be a busy day on Saturday, but according to general manager Eric DeCosta, it sounds like they already have one or two of those picks figured out.
In his post-Day 2 press conference, DeCosta remained firm on the need for a tight end.
“I definitely would expect us to draft a tight end tomorrow at some point,” DeCosta said. “With eight picks, you’d think that we’ll have a chance to add one or two guys.”
Baltimore Ravens likely to set clear emphasis on tight end in Day 3 of 2026 NFL Draft
DeCosta noted in his response that he thinks the Ravens are fortunate to have two tight ends they trust, and that’s true. Mark Andrews, despite the recent downtrend in production, remains a security blanket that Lamar Jackson can trust, and free agent signing Durham Smythe is a reliable option as a blocking tight end. The production as a receiving threat may not be there, but there’s a reason he’s stuck around in the NFL for eight, going on nine years.
Still, it’s hard to ignore the losses at tight end that Baltimore has endured this offseason. Isaiah Likely followed John Harbaugh to the New York Giants, and Charlie Kolar joined the other Harbaugh brother, Jim, with the Los Angeles Chargers. Safe to say the Super Harbaugh Bros. have been a thorn in the Ravens’ side, and they’ll have to bounce back from those losses in the draft.
There was a big-time run on potential replacements for Likely and Kolar, but there seems to be just enough talent on the board at that spot remaining. Justin Joly (NC State) feels like the perfect player to fill the Likely void, and Michael Trigg (Baylor) and Joe Royer (Cincinnati) are two other top guys who have fallen into the fourth round.
Baltimore’s first pick on Day 3 comes 15 picks into Round 4 at No. 115 overall, so they might need a little luck to fall their way. Looking at the tight ends available, it’d probably be in their best interest to select one of them with that lone fourth-round selection. If they don’t, things could get pretty shallow by the next time they come up on the clock in Round 5 at No. 154.
