The Baltimore Ravens continued to keep their future under wraps with another extension this offseason, signing wide receiver Rashod Bateman to a contract extension. The deal is worth $36.75 million over three years, with $20 million guaranteed. It will keep him in Baltimore through the 2029 season.
The four-year veteran deserves to cash in on a payday, as he's coming off a breakout campaign in 2024. He caught 45 passes for 756 yards and nine touchdowns. He became one of Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets and continued to solidify himself as one of Baltimore’s best weapons as the season progressed.
Ravens reaffirm their faith in Bateman with new extension
Baltimore extended Bateman last offseason for a much cheaper two-year deal worth $12.87 million. Now, after a strong 2024 campaign, it was time to give the receiver the money he deserved.
Any fan or analyst who watched Bateman during his first few seasons in the NFL knew what he could contribute. The issue was always his health and consistency. Whether it was groin, foot, or hamstring injuries, it seemed like he could never catch a break. But now, it looks like he’s put that injury history behind him, playing 16 games in 2023 and the full 17-game slate last year. And he looked better than ever in 2024.
The pairing of him and Zay Flowers is one of the most exciting receiving duos in football, and it still doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Bateman’s big-play ability as a deep threat, combined with Flowers’ explosiveness in the open field, is a match made in heaven.
Even after a great year, the 2021 first-round pick still has doubters who he’ll look to prove wrong in 2025.
By signing the deal, Bateman won’t have to think about the possibility of free agency for the foreseeable future. Like last season, he can hit the field and dominate without having other concerns crowd his mind. He came into his own last season, and there are no doubts about his continued and steady growth with the Ravens.
