Zay might get some help.

The Baltimore Ravens recently-hired head coach Jesse Minter has a lot of work to do this offseason. He’s already impressing on the coaching front, quickly building a strong staff for the upcoming 2026 season. However, the roster has plenty of holes to fill, too.

It’s obvious that there are growing frustrations within the Ravens fan base. The team is taking steps in the right direction with a new era under Minter, but the roster has countless flaws. They once appeared to have one of the best-constructed rosters in football, but the 2025 campaign revealed severe holes in the ship. As it has been in recent years, those holes came at the interior offensive line, wide receiver depth, and pass rush.

It’s agonizing to see those groups fall short time and time again. Hopefully, under Minter, Baltimore’s front office will put a larger emphasis on improving those spots. In a recent mock draft, they did just that, adding Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

In ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller’s latest mock draft, Tyson fell to the Ravens at pick 14. If he’s there, it would be an easy pick for them. Miller wrote:

“This team lacks reliable options for Lamar Jackson outside of Zay Flowers -- who has back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons -- and needs to diversify its passing attack. At 6-foot-3, Tyson would give Jackson the bigger-bodied target he needs. I've long been an advocate of expanding Jackson's strike zone with bigger receivers as opposed to smaller, speedier targets. Tyson overcame drop issues in 2024 to put together a cleaner, more complete résumé last season.”

Miller added that Tyson has significant injury concerns, which could be a factor in a potential draft fall come April.

Ravens’ projected selection of Jordyn Tyson would take a huge weight off Zay Flowers

Not only has quarterback Lamar Jackson lacked a deep wide receiver room for pretty much his entire NFL career, but wide receiver Zay Flowers hasn’t had a consistent threat opposite him throughout his three-year career. Sure, Rashod Bateman was that guy in 2024, but he remains an incredibly inconsistent wideout. After a disappointing 2025 and causing an uproar of drama this offseason, Baltimore could go in a different direction.

If the Ravens do opt to add a premier wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, there couldn’t be a better fit than Tyson. As Miller noted, he’s a bigger-bodied target that Jackson has lacked throughout his career. The two-time MVP showed what kind of damage he can do with that type of player, throwing accurate strikes to veteran DeAndre Hopkins sporadically last season. With Tyson, he would be able up the ante in that facet.

Flowers may take major strides alongside Tyson, too. Sure, his numbers would probably dip, but having a real threat on the boundary would also open up a lot more space for the two-time Pro Bowler. After the catch, he could begin to dominate, with opposing defenses spreading out, having to worry about Tyson. Undoubtedly, it would also take a ton of pressure off Flowers.

Overall, wide receiver isn’t really close to Baltimore’s most critical need, but given the talent there at the top of this year’s draft, it could make some sense. The offense sputtered in 2025; a guy in Tyson, who can win in all areas, would help the unit re-establish itself as the most explosive in the NFL.
