As the NFL offseason marches on, free agency has already been crazy. The Baltimore Ravens have made some key additions, but also have had some key losses.
In Baltimore, the heaviest emphasis ahead of free agency was placed on center Tyler Linderbaum. They offered him a market-setting deal, but ultimately, he agreed to a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. They could search for his replacement in free agency, but they're also tight for cap space. That makes some cap casualties crucial.
Defensive lineman Broderick Washington and running back Justice Hill have been the top names mentioned in potential cap cuts, as the two would create around $7 million in cap savings if released. Now, after the John Simpson agreement, another under-the-radar cap casualty has come into play: offensive guard Andrew Vorhees.
Baltimore Ravens may stare down a harsh Andrew Vorhees decision
Vorhees’ 2025 wasn’t good. He was part of a horrendous offensive guard duo alongside Daniel Faalele. He did start all 17 games, though, and also provides some depth. However, his salary recently received a bump, and releasing him would free up just over $3.6 million.

The Ravens don’t have a lot of candidates for release. Broderick Washington seems like the only sure thing.
Could potentially see G Andrew Vorhees here too. Due to earning the PP escalator, his salary jumped to $3.674M. Cap savings is that same amount if cut. pic.twitter.com/Fd7ikFZJwH
Sure, cutting a key, albeit struggling, cog of the offensive line can seem like a step back, but that extra money could pay off. The Ravens still have some premium needs like wide receiver and cornerback, which will come at a lucrative cost. With that in mind, they may look to free up every dollar possible.
Vorhees may not even be a starter next year anyway. John Simpson comes in as an immediate starter, and Vorhees may lose out on the other starting guard spot to 2025 third-round pick Emery Jones Jr.
Jones didn’t play a lot in his rookie season. A labrum injury caused him to miss offseason activities and the first four games of the regular season. As a result, it took him some time to ramp up into football shape, finally getting the call for his NFL debut in Week 13. He saw play sporadically late in 2025 (48 offensive snaps), mostly taking snaps away from Vorhees. That could spell trouble for Vorhees’ future in Charm City.
To be fair, it was only Vorhees’ second full season in the NFL, and his first in a starting role, but it seems Baltimore may have his replacement in Jones. Vorhees is already 27 years old, and the team could and likely should let Jones continue to grow into an impactful role. This doesn’t necessarily mean Vorhees will be cut, but he’s certainly trending in the wrong direction.
