The Baltimore Ravens have a potent offense with stars ready to make splash plays at all times. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken is entering his third season as the team’s playcaller and has quickly emerged as one of the league’s top coordinators.
On the field, Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry attract all the attention, and rightfully so. Both superstars are at the top of their game. The duo helped propel Baltimore to the league’s best offense and a historic season in 2024.
Other weapons like Zay Flowers, Isaiah Likely, and Mark Andrews are also dangerous, seemingly offering opposing defenses no chance to rest. With so much talent at every position, it’s easy for players to get lost in the chaos, and Keaton Mitchell is becoming one of those guys.
Keaton Mitchell will be back and better than ever
The Ravens signed Mitchell as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. As an undrafted rookie, no one expected the East Carolina product to dominate in his first year. It took until week nine, but Mitchell would do just that against the Seattle Seahawks. He would run all over Seattle’s defense for 138 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. From that point on, he wouldn’t look back.
Mitchell’s dream rookie season came to a crashing halt when he tore his ACL against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 15. He finished the year with 396 yards on 47 carries and an impressive 8.4 yards per carry. The 23-year-old was also a threat out of the backfield, torching defenses with his elite speed.
Less than a year after the injury, Mitchell made his 2024 debut against the Cincinnati Bengals in week 10, but he didn’t look the same. He looked slower and less explosive, as Baltimore used him sparingly throughout the year. Now, in 2025, Mitchell should be back to his 2023 self.
With another year of recovery and an offseason of training, Baltimore’s young back is in a prime position to break out. His brief 2023 season was no fluke. The speed to take the top off the defense was there, and his decision-making at the line of scrimmage had defenses scrambling to react. He’s one of the purest playmakers in the league when healthy. This team needs to find ways to get the ball in his hands.
The offense is loaded, and there has been speculation that the Ravens might sign a veteran running back to be the go-to guy when Henry needs a breather, but Mitchell should be just that. With Justice Hill handling snaps on passing downs, Mitchell is more than capable of toting the rock when necessary. If he can tap into the speed he brought to Baltimore’s offense in 2023, he will demand carries in the 2025 campaign.
Pairing Henry’s physical nature at the running back position with Mitchell’s electrifying speed can be one of the most dangerous combinations in the NFL this upcoming season. As Henry wears defenses down with his brute force, Mitchell will take advantage with his burst. If the third-year back can return to form in 2025, expect the Ravens to set records and outdo their 2024 offense with another monumental year.
