The 2025 NFL offseason hasn't even officially begun, but that's obviously not stopping any teams or players from exploring future opportunities. It's Super Bowl week, but it doesn't feel like it. With all the rumors, requests, and ideas flying around, the other 30 teams are doing a great job of remaining relevant when their seasons are already over.
While the Baltimore Ravens aren't in the thick of any scuttlebutt, it doesn't mean they shouldn't be.
First was the Myles Garrett "I don't want to play for the Cleveland Browns anymore" trade request. The request wasn't all that surprising, but the timing to release it was. Garrett has been arguably the best defensive player in the league these past five seasons or more and wants to win a Super Bowl. Cleveland... isn't very good at winning anything. A divorce makes sense, and Lamar Jackson made his feelings heard via social media.
Then, after that news shook the football world, a wild post from out west got the football world's attention just as much. Los Angeles Rams standout wide receiver Cooper Kupp took to X, where he announced the Rams had informed him they'd be looking to trade him immediately and that he doesn't agree with the decision. This is where things get interesting for the Ravens.
Cooper Kupp is the perfect weapon for Lamar Jackson
Kupp's post came out of left field. His name was floated around as a potential trade option back near the deadline, but nothing surfaced. Now, three months later, his services in LA are no longer wanted. Kupp took the news as best he could, saying:
"I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA. Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember."
His words made it clear that he and the Rams would be working together to get him to the right place to allow him to compete for championships. His championship pedigree, precise route running, and glue-like hands would be the perfect addition to the Ravens' group of pass-catchers.
Armed with 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, general manager Eric DeCosta could easily send two Day 3 picks LA's way to acquire Kupp. It wouldn’t be the easiest trade financially, but it wouldn’t drain the Ravens’ assets, either. If he's looking to land with a contender, the Rams will probably have to eat some of his salary to get a deal done, or else they might be left to release him outright.
A WR trio of Kupp, Zay Flowers, and Rashod Bateman would be tough to stop. All three would bring different components that would overwhelm opposing defenses. Flowers would be the yards-after-catch guy. Bateman would be the deep-ball threat. Kupp would be the reliable chain-mover.
If the Ravens are serious about maximizing their Super Bowl window, this is the move. Kupp brings experience, leadership, and a playoff resume that Baltimore’s receiving corps simply doesn’t have. His ability to find soft spots in coverage and make contested catches would give Jackson a true security blanket—something that’s been missing from this offense outside of—are we even sure anymore—Mark Andrews.
Of course, DeCosta has to navigate the financial hurdles, but if there’s a way to make the numbers work, there’s no reason Baltimore shouldn’t poke around. Kupp wants to compete for championships just as badly as the Ravens do. Jackson and Derrick Henry are already giving defensive coordinators nightmares. Add Kupp to that equation? Good luck. It’s a no-brainer. Make the call.
