The Baltimore Ravens will be searching for a new head coach this offseason after firing John Harbaugh last week. Harbaugh has already landed on his feet, agreeing to become the next head coach of the New York Giants.
It's a good fit for Harbaugh, who will have a young quarterback already on his roster and an overall team that looks ready to be competitive with the right coach. As for how this impacts the Ravens, it won't be shocking in the least bit if former Ravens players flock to New York to reunite with Harbaugh.
One player that could fall into this category would be Isaiah Likely, who is probably the odd man out after the Ravens chose to extend Mark Andrews last month. Likely, a former fourth-round pick by Baltimore in 2022, is heading toward free agency and, given Andrews' new deal, it feels imminent that he'll move on this spring.
Isaiah Likely reuniting with John Harbaugh makes too much sense not happen
By joining Harbaugh in New York, Likely would be staying with a familiar mentor at head coach and he'd get a chance to play with Jaxson Dart, who is entering a crucial second season. The Giants need to add weapons for Dart and Likely would be a pretty darn good one for him to have at his disposal.
While the Ravens ultimately chose Andrews over Likely, the former Coastal Carolina tight end is still plenty talented and will give whichever team he chooses to join a major boost. His best year came in 2024 when he caught 42 passes for 477 yards and found the end zone six times. This past year was looked at as a disappointment (307 yards and one touchdown), but Likely missed a few games due to injury.
If Likely does join Harbaugh in New York, the Giants already have another decent tight end in Theo Johnson but there's nothing wrong with pairing up two pretty good tight ends. Dart would have two great options to throw to at the tight end spot and that would give him a major boost for his sophomore season in the pros.
Ravens fans won't be the least bit surprised if a lot of former Ravens players join Harbaugh in New York and it's not hard to see Likely thriving there if he follows his former head coach to his new destination.
