The Baltimore Ravens have made their next big move. After hiring Jesse Minter to become the team’s fourth head coach in franchise history, Minter has been building a talented staff. The offensive coordinator position was vacant for over a week before reports surfaced that the Ravens will hire Declan Doyle to take over that role.

Doyle has some big shoes to fill. He’ll replace Todd Monken, who departed for the Cleveland Browns head coaching gig. In three seasons calling the plays on offense, Monken helped lead a top offense in football, which included two MVP-caliber campaigns from quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Doyle was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2025. It was his first and only season in that type of role. However, he didn’t have full control over playcalling duties. Chicago head coach Ben Johnson held those duties. Now, Doyle will have the opportunity to call one of the most dangerous offenses in football.
With players like Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, and Zay Flowers leading the unit, the expectations are high for Doyle. But with experience under some of the best offensive minds in the game, the 29-year-old certainly has a lot to offer.
Declan Doyle brings plenty of knowledge from some of the best in the NFL
Along with learning from Johnson, who has already risen to the top of the list of best offensive playcallers, Doyle has learned from Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton’s genius.
After starting as a student assistant at the University of Iowa from 2016 to 2018, Doyle quickly earned an NFL job with the New Orleans Saints in 2019. He was an offensive assistant there from 2019 to 2022, and up until 2021, he was taking in everything he could possibly learn from Sean Payton.
When Payton landed the head coaching job with the Broncos in 2023, Doyle was one of the guys he brought along with him. Doyle was the tight ends coach from 2023 to 2024. Following that short tenure, he was called upon by Ben Johnson to become the Bears' offensive coordinator in 2025.
Safe to say it’s been an insanely quick climb up the coaching ladder for Doyle. Now, he’ll have a chance to put his expertise on full display with some of the best players in football on his offense in Charm City.
