Jesse Minter wasted no time making Kyle Hamilton look like Superman vs. Colts

There’s nothing Kyle Hamilton can’t do. The Baltimore Ravens are extremely lucky to have a defender like him. The three-time Pro Bowler can play anywhere on the field, and he always does so at an otherworldly level.

Week 1 was no different. Actually, it may have reached new heights for Hamilton. Head coach Jesse Minter had him looking like Superman out there…just without the cape.

When I say Hamilton played everywhere, he legitimately played everywhere. Safety, corner, linebacker, pass rusher, and even defensive tackle. Minter was ready to utilize him wherever he saw fit, and it worked extremely well.

And this is only the start.

When the Ravens hired Jesse Minter, everyone knew Kyle Hamilton was bound to hit another level. The only safety who can compare to Hamilton’s versatility is Derwin James, and Minter helped him make back-to-back All-Pro teams with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and 2025. It may have been James’ best years yet.

Now, Hamilton is set to be Minter’s next Frankenstein.

Hamilton’s IQ, lengthy frame, and NASCAR-like processing speed helped him disrupt the Indianapolis Colts offense all day long. He wrecked their operation in all phases of the game.

As a pass rusher, Hamilton may have made his biggest impact. He tallied three pressures and one QB hit in his 2026 debut, helping ensure Daniel Jones had absolutely no comfort in the pocket.

As a team, the Ravens pressured Jones on 18 of his 34 dropbacks. That’s a 52.9% pressure rate, which made Jones the most-pressured quarterback in Week 1.

While Hamilton didn’t get a sack, he was a catalyst in Tavius Robinson bringing down Jones in the backfield inside the Indianapolis five-yard line. Hamilton took on two blocks, flushed Jones outside the pocket and into the awaiting grasp of Robinson.

Later, Hamilton fired into the backfield with ease, unleashing a lethal hit on Jones and forcing an incompletion.

As a linebacker, Hamilton made the middle of the field tougher to attack. The Colts exploited thethat area on their opening drive, including a 25-yard completion to Josh Downs, which set up a touchdown. After that, though, their passing attack was largely quiet.

The crazy part is, this was Baltimore’s defense not even close to their best. They gave up 23 points and looked invisible on the first drive of the game. Following the game, Hamilton made it clear the unit is capable of so much more.

After hearing that, Minter added context for what he wants his unit to do better moving forward.

If that’s a defense playing at a C-plus level, the NFL should be terrified. The secondary was suffocating, the front seven was getting through with relentless pressure, and they were forcing turnovers. Somehow, though, there’s another level to unlock, and Jesse Minter has the perfect chess piece in Kyle Hamilton to get them there.
