It’s been quite clear that the Baltimore Ravens were focused on setting Lamar Jackson up for success this offseason. They made him one of the priorities in their head coaching search, dramatically improved their offensive guard situation, and made efforts to get an extension done (although they only agreed on a rework).
After an injury-riddled campaign for Jackson and a total team failure in 2026, this offseason overhaul was an undeniable need. The team checked almost every box. Along with the Jesse Minter hire and offensive guard transformation, they gave Jackson a couple of physical wideouts in the 2026 NFL Draft and brought in a young, genius offensive coordinator in Declan Doyle.
That Doyle hire could pave the way for another Jackson signature season. A third MVP might be within reach.
Baltimore Ravens may have put Lamar Jackson on track for a third MVP
Clifton Brown recently outlined 10 players set to explode in 2026 in an article for BaltimoreRavens.com, and Jackson was, of course, one of the names mentioned. Brown highlighted a notable trend that could put Jackson on a collision course with another MVP.
"“[Jackson’s] healthy, happy, and loves Offensive Coordinator Declan Doyle's scheme. Jackson won an MVP in Greg Roman's first season as coordinator, then captured another MVP in Todd Monken's first season. It's clear that a new offense ignites Jackson. I think new OC could equal another MVP.”"Clifton Brown
It’s hard to ignore what Brown is saying here. It’s evident that every time Jackson works under a new offensive coordinator, he reaches another level that seems improbable to reach. He’s gone from a dynamic playmaker who was just impossible to contain under Greg Roman, to the best dual-threat quarterback the league has ever seen under Todd Monken, and under Doyle, there’s no telling what heights he could reach. Could there really be another level that Jackson can unlock?
The Jackson/Doyle pairing is super intriguing. It feels like a match made in heaven. Doyle is going to run a play-action-heavy offense, which is exactly what the doctor ordered for Jackson and Baltimore’s offense. The two-time MVP is the best in the NFL when running play actions, so it’s hard to imagine this new duo doesn’t work out. It seems destined to put Jackson in MVP conversations by year’s end.
If the Ravens’ offensive coordinator history can repeat itself, then fans may see Jackson raise his third MVP trophy (which he actually deserved in 2024, but that’s in the past). Still, that accomplishment isn’t the goal. Not even for Jackson. Baltimore is all in on getting back to the playoffs and taking the ultimate step of being crowned Super Bowl champions. An MVP is cool, but in reality, everyone is focused on breaking the playoff curse.
