Following a strong weekend in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens made headlines for their work afterward. They’ve made some solid undrafted free agent signings, but the news that caught everyone’s attention was that of Diego Pavia.

On Sunday, Pavia accepted an invitation to Baltimore’s upcoming rookie minicamp. However, after there was growing interest on the market for Pavia’s services amid his pending showcase, the Ravens had to act fast to sign him. On Tuesday, they signed him to a three-year deal.

This gives Pavia at least some security as he gets ready for the biggest weekend of his football career.

Baltimore Ravens jump in front of the curve by signing Diego Pavia ahead of rookie minicamp

This news comes just hours after Baltimore signed fellow undrafted rookie quarterback from UConn Joe Fagnano. Fagnano will sign a similar three-year contract. While Pavia eventually joined that club, there may be a bit of a rivalry brewing between them for the coming days. It’s certainly something to keep an eye on.

Pavia was a polarizing prospect throughout the draft process, and that extended pretty much throughout his entire career with the Vanderbilt Commodores. He undoubtedly does his fair share of trash talking, and his attitude off the field has caused maturity questions to arise. That could’ve played a slight role in him being the first Heisman finalist since 2014 to go undrafted.

The 24-year-old has also had some major questions about how his play will translate to the NFL. He was an insanely productive college quarterback, but many believe that’s all he is: a college quarterback. His 5-foot-10 stature and a lack of real arm talent that could limit him in the pros.

Clearly, though, the Ravens have belief in Pavia. He brings the competitiveness you need to possess if you’re going to play in Charm City. He lays it all on the line and truly exemplifies what it means to play like a Raven. With that in mind, this pairing makes a lot of sense.

Ultimately, though, this signing doesn’t guarantee Pavia an active roster spot. It only means he’s got a place in the training camp. There’s a long way to go for him.

However, this also puts Pavia on an upward trend. There may actually be a real chance for him to make the roster after all.
