The Baltimore Ravens are set at the quarterback position with Lamar Jackson, but the team is making sure to build up the quarterback room with rookies. After inviting Heisman finalist Diego Pavia to rookie minicamp to try out, Baltimore has reached a deal with a different undrafted quarterback.
On Tuesday, the team agreed to a three-year deal with Joe Fagnano. The former UConn quarterback will join the team for rookie minicamp, and is seemingly a lock to be with the franchise through training camp.
Ravens sign undrafted quarterback Joe Fagnano
Fagnano, a Pennsylvania native started his college career at Maine where he played four seasons. In those four years, he appeared in 27 games, completing 60% of his passes for 5,674 yards and 46 touchdowns, to just 12 interceptions. He also added 535 yards on the ground and five additional touchdowns.
With additional eligibility, Fagnano went to UConn, where he played three more seasons. The quarterback significantly improved in 2025, and had the best season of his career, completing 69% of his passes for 3,448 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just one interception. Those numbers helped him end his UConn career with a 64.7 completion percentage, 5,252 yards, 48 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also had 223 yards and four additional touchdowns on the ground.
Now, he joins the Ravens as an undrafted player, signing a three-year deal. However, his contract doesn’t guarantee that he’ll actually be in Baltimore that long. Fagnano will be competing from the day he enters the building, and that competition will start with a player like Pavia. With Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley already on the roster, the two will be competing for a training camp spot. Fagnano has the upper hand because of his contract, but nothing in this league is guaranteed.
If the former UConn quarterback can make it to training camp, he’ll then have to prove that he deserves to make Baltimore’s roster as QB3. While that might be a long shot, because the Ravens don’t want to carry three quarterbacks, Fagnano will be showcasing his talent to other teams, as well as earning himself a spot on the practice squad.
That’s the path in front of him, but the Ravens clearly see something that made them sign him to a three-year deal.
