Ravens' nearby rival just handed them an ideal offseason contingency plan

The Baltimore Ravens are set to endure a nagging offseason. Countless changes are on the horizon, and with a lot of players set to hit free agency and not a ton of money, they’ll have to let more contributors walk than they’d like.

Unfortunately, among those could be center Tyler Linderbaum. General manager Eric DeCosta has made his feelings on Linderbaum clear, mentioning that they have offered him a market-setting contract. It sounds like Linderbaum’s agent is resistant to negotiations. Obviously, he knows that if his client hits the open market, there will likely be a lot more money on the table.

With that in mind, the Ravens may need to explore alternative options. Clearly, they want Linderbaum to be a part of their future, but the NFL is a business. Thankfully, the Washington Commanders dropped a strong backup plan in the form of center Tyler Biadasz. They released Biadasz on Thursday.

It’d be a bit of a step back for sure; Linderbaum is a three-time Pro Bowler, but that's the downside of the offseason. Regardless, Biadasz would be a pretty solid Plan B.

Tyler Biadasz should become Ravens’ backup plan for Tyler Linderbaum

Biadasz’s release came as a shock. He only missed three games in his two-year tenure in Washington, and the team saved a light $2.855 million in cap space, while taking on $8.1 million in dead money. They didn’t really need that extra money either, as they already had the fifth-most cap space in the NFL and now have nearly $65 million in effective cap space.

For the Commanders, it may be a move to pivot to Linderbaum. That’d be another unwelcome competitor for the three-time Pro Bowler that the Ravens may have to deal with. Of course, they still hold all the cards until the legal tampering period begins on March 9, but a cheaper, but still steady center option like Biadasz could be a good move.

The Ravens will certainly look to be smart with their money. If Linderbaum trends toward that $20 million mark that some expect him to, DeCosta and company could opt to sign Biadasz to a deal instead. It'd be a quick travel over from Washington.

Biadasz is still just 28 years old and should be rather inexpensive. He signed for three years, $29.25 million with the Commanders in 2024, and may command somewhere in the same range this offseason. If Baltimore signed Biadasz over Linderbaum, they’d have a bit more cap flexibility to add pieces elsewhere. Fans know how much help this team needs going into 2026, and the front office could look to save every little bit of cash they can.

Ultimately, the plan should remain centered around Tyler Linderbaum. With uncertainty around the offensive guard spots in Charm City, Linderbaum provides stability on the interior, and he brings that at an All-Pro level. Quarterback Lamar Jackson also suffered multiple nagging injuries in 2025, and as the Ravens look to sign him to a new contract, he needs Linderbaum’s elite-level blocking. New offensive coordinator Declan Doyle would undoubtedly like to have that, too.

However, if Linderbaum prices himself out of Baltimore, Biadasz would be the perfect contingency plan.
