Regardless of how you feel about the Baltimore Ravens’ 2026 offseason, you can’t deny that they improved their roster. Sure, the team lost a painful amount of contributors, but they did an excellent job of looking themselves in the mirror and improving their undeniable flaws from last season.

Among those spots is the defensive line. Eric DeCosta sought out depth for an already solid interior, and the optimistic updates surrounding Nnamdi Madubuike could make them an absolute force there. More importantly, though, the edge rushers look fierce.

Baltimore found the gifted sack artist they desperately needed in the form of Trey Hendrickson, but they didn’t stop there. They also drafted one of the most energetic rookies in the 2026 NFL Draft with second-rounder Zion Young.

From the looks of it, the defensive front could go from a glaring weakness to a major strength in 2026.

Baltimore Ravens’ defensive line ready to transform into powerhouse-level threat in 2026

Let’s list the additions that the Ravens made to their defensive line this offseason.

  • EDGE Trey Hendrickson
  • EDGE Zion Young
  • DL Calais Campbell
  • DL Rayshaun Benny

Between Hendrickson and Campbell, that’s 198 career sacks. That’ll bring a jolt that the defense simply didn’t have last year, as they posted just 30 sacks in 2025. And while those two veterans could be immediate impact players, rookies Zion Young and Rayshaun Benny bring some added depth with a good deal of potential to the room.

All of that looks great on paper, and nothing really matters until the pads go on, but the progress that we’ve seen from this new defensive line has been fairly impressive. And it’s hard not to get excited when looking at all the talent stocked within that area.

Along the interior, it’s a truly dangerous group. If Madubuike’s healthy, the starters will be Madubuike, Campbell, and Travis Jones. That’s a game-wrecking trio, and even if Madubuike starts the year on IR, John Jenkins could prove once again to be one of the better signings of the year.

Behind those four, there are plenty of ways to rotate guys in with the likes of Broderick Washington Jr., Aeneas Peebles, and Rayshaun Benny. Specifically, that young duo of Peebles and Benny could be two of the most intriguing unknowns in Charm City this season.

The pass rushers should be ready to do consistent damage, as well. Hendrickson is one of the best pass rushers that the NFL has to offer, which should in turn help second-year pro Mike Green take massive strides, and being that he was widely considered among the best pure pass rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft, that could be an exciting development.

And even the run-stopping off the edge should improve. While Hendrickson and Green might be underwhelming in that department, Young and Tavius Robinson know how to set the edge. They bring the power, strength, and physicality to the table, while also possessing the instincts to collapse on rushing lanes.

This isn’t even including the hirings of bright defensive minds in Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver. They’re two of the most respected rising coaches in the league, and the rest of the NFL may have made an absolutely horrendous mistake by allowing them to partner up in Baltimore. Minter’s an outstanding playcaller and Weaver’s a fiery leader—if that’s not a recipe for success, then I don’t know what is.

Ultimately, it's obvious that this year’s iteration of the Ravens’ defense will be vastly better, and the defensive line might become the biggest success story in 2026.
