Sit back and relax.

It’s no secret that the Baltimore Ravens could experience growing pains under new head coach Jesse Minter. After firing John Harbaugh and hiring Minter this offseason, the organization is entering a new era. There's no room for those growing pains, though.

Even with the changing of the guard, the Ravens are still in the middle of their competitive window. Minter won’t have a lot of time to adjust if he wants to get this team back into the playoffs. Thankfully, the 2026 NFL schedule release benefits him in a big way.

Baltimore has a very forgivable stretch to open up their season. Of their first six games, they won’t play a single playoff team from last year. That gives Minter a golden opportunity to hit the ground running and get his team headed in the right direction. He has a clear edge early in the 2026 campaign.

To make life so much easier on Jesse Minter, not only do the Ravens not draw a playoff team through the first six weeks, but none of those teams had a winning record last year either. The total 2025 record between their opponents during that stretch is an abysmal 37-64-1. That’s incredible news for Minter and his young coaching staff.

The Ravens’ opening stretch kicks off with a season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, followed by the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, and Cleveland Browns. There aren’t many real threats in that group. On paper, it’s completely possible that Baltimore finds itself with an undefeated record entering Week 7, when they square off against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Obviously, Minter’s in charge of the entire team as the head coach, but many will be keeping an eye on his defense in particular. The Ravens were a trainwreck in that area last year, and the 42-year-old coach will be calling the defense. Fortunately, the offenses he will face in the early going shouldn’t present too much of a challenge.

The Week 3 showdown in Rio against the Cowboys will undoubtedly be scary. Their offense is lethal. The Colts also possess a respectable offense. Outside of that, though, it shouldn’t be too tough. The Saints, Titans, and Browns were all bottom-10 offenses last year. And for the Falcons, although they signed Tua Tagovailoa this offseason, they aren't stacked with much talent outside of Bijan Robinson and Drake London.

Jesse Minter has to take advantage of this soft start to Baltimore’s 2026 schedule. Things are going to get really rough by the end of the year, as they finish with a four-game AFC North gauntlet. They have to stack wins early, and for Minter, it’ll be a chance to get acclimated to the life of an NFL head coach.
