The Baltimore Ravens have arrived at training camp, and they have a lot to prove. After a pitiful 2025 campaign, they’re kicking off a new era, and along with that, offseason additions will look to prove their worth, while returning guys are eyeing up rebound seasons.
Among those players that Baltimore needs to bounce back is running back Justice Hill. He had some fine moments in 2025, but he posted modest production at best. A neck injury also cut his year short ahead of Week 13, limiting him to 10 games.
With the Ravens drafting Adam Randall in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, much of the attention has turned away from Hill and toward the unique, all-around rookie running back. However, Hill remains the go-to backup. Training camp will be his first real opportunity to remind everyone of that.

After reviving their playoff hopes in the middle of the 2025 season, the Ravens went 2-4 from Week 13 to Week 18. Through that brutal stretch, Hill was quietly a key piece missing from the offense. It was clear that Rasheen Ali wasn’t capable of replacing him, and it was just as clear why Hill has been a mainstay in Charm City for seven years.
Statistically, Hill won’t blow you away. As a rusher, he’s always been relatively silent—he has just 1,255 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground across his career. However, his impact goes far beyond the stat sheet.
What makes Hill so special is his reliability on passing downs. As a pass catcher, he tends to unveil himself as a great security blanket for Lamar Jackson, and as a pass blocker, you can count on him to give Jackson the extra second or two to evade pressure and make a play. You really can’t put into words how important that ability is from Hill.
And the Ravens missed that from Hill dearly down the stretch last season. The offensive line was absolutely horrific, and not having Hill in the backfield in the final six contests put Baltimore at a severe disadvantage. The lack of an above-average pass-blocking and pass-catching running back like Hill was as apparent as ever.
Most times, when you use the term playmaker, it’s usually about a weapon who puts up dominant numbers week after week. For Hill, he’s the type of playmaker that makes his teammates better. He’s done it for the majority of his career, and he’ll continue to prove his worth in 2026.
