Everywhere you look, the Baltimore Ravens’ defense is inconsistent. Some areas are worse than others, but almost every position group could use help. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson may be a trade candidate to boost the trenches.

With Tampa Bay at 2-5 and Robinson being 31 on a one-year deal, he should be on the block. Barring a turnaround, the Ravens would be smart to give the Buccaneers a call.

ESPN even mentioned Baltimore as a landing spot for Robinson and gave him a 30% chance to be dealt. Jeremy Fowler also said he shouldn’t cost much.

While it wouldn’t be a huge upgrade, it’d be a worthwhile one.

A’Shawn Robinson might be the perfect buy-low trade candidate for Baltimore Ravens

Trade season is heating up. Over the past week, several blockbuster trades have gone down, including Quenton Nelson, DeForest Buckner, and Jeffery Simmons all landing with new teams. And you could say the Ravens started all this by acquiring Cam Jurgens earlier in October.

Unfortunately, Baltimore doesn’t have the financial flexibility to make another big deal. At least it doesn’t look like it. They have about $1.35 million in available cap space and would need to restructure deals to make another splash move. With several significant cap commitments looming in future seasons, creating more room now could make things even trickier down the road.

That’s why A’Shawn Robinson is a good target. He’s a buy-low candidate who wouldn’t cost much, in terms of compensation and money.

Using Spotrac’s trade machine, Robinson comes with a $2.2 million cap hit in 2026. Now, the Ravens would still be over the cap limit, but they could easily ask the Buccaneers to eat up a portion, or all, of Robinson’s remaining contract.

The slight problem is that it would potentially drive up the price a bit. But Robinson should be cheap regardless.

At most, Tampa Bay will probably ask for a fifth-round pick. Baltimore has the draft capital to strike on that. They have two fifth-rounders in 2027 and are projected to receive two more compensatory fifth-round picks in that draft due to Isaiah Likely and Dre’Mont Jones leaving in free agency.

Simply put, Eric DeCosta has plenty to work with. He wasn’t stingy with his picks in the Jurgens trade, and shouldn’t be in a potential Robinson deal.

A’Shawn Robinson fits what the Ravens need

Baltimore’s defensive front isn’t the biggest worry — Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, and Calais Campbell are a great trio. However, the depth is lacking, and with Campbell being 40 years old, he needs more rest than a typical rotational option to be at his best.

That’s where Robinson comes in. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound veteran offers the potential to slot into Campbell’s spot on early downs and take snaps away from Broderick Washington and John Jenkins, who have been lackluster in 2026.

Sure, he may not offer much as a pass rusher. Robinson only has 16 career sacks in 11 seasons. His run defense has been absolutely stellar, though.

According to Pro Football Focus, Robinson has an 88.3 run-defense grade, which ranks second at his position.

Robinson can be effective as a pass rusher, too. He only has 8 pressures in seven games, but he eats blocks and collapses the pocket. And the Ravens could use that. They should want a player who takes on double teams and frees up opportunities for Madubuike and Jones.

That’s Robinson. He possesses the size and strength to anchor the defensive front and create more one-on-ones for others. Given the talent on the defensive line, Robinson would boost the play of others.

It wouldn’t be the flashy move most Ravens fans are envisioning at this point, but Baltimore is in a spot where they should flesh out a stout rotation. And adding Robinson wouldn’t just be a productive piece; he’d be a defensive leader that this team lacks.
