Let’s be honest, as the Baltimore Ravens head into training camp, it feels like most of their 53-man roster is set. The starting unit is nearly set in stone, and for most position groups, the team has their depth figured out. That’s not to say there won’t be battles in the coming months, though.

The most notable battles will come in the trenches—on both the offensive and defensive side. The interior defensive line is loaded with talent, and likely too much to keep on the active roster. As for the offensive front, there’s obviously the center question, but a more low-key battle is at offensive tackle.

Undrafted rookie Diego Pounds could star in that competition. Right now, he’s a longshot, but as Baltimore’s third-highest paid undrafted free agent, there’s clearly some belief there. He should see a decent runway, and it’s one he must capitalize on this summer.

Diego Pounds is a name to watch out for in Baltimore Ravens training camp

Pounds will have his work cut out for him. Baltimore’s starting tackle duo is already ready to take the field between Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten, and the lead backup will more than likely be second-year pro Carson Vinson, who could prove to be a very nice developmental piece. There might be room for one more, though.

If the Ravens do look to keep five tackles, there’s no reason that Pounds can’t emerge as a top option to snatch one of the final roster spots. He signed for $40,000 guaranteed after the 2026 NFL Draft, and many experts believed he was one of the best prospects to go undrafted. Baltimore may have gotten a really good one.

We’ll see just how good he is in training camp. While there was little mention of him during OTAs and minicamp, that’s a stretch where the pads aren’t on, and physicality is limited. Training camp is the best opportunity for guys like Pounds to finally step up and make their names known, as pads finally go on and contact is welcomed.

And Pounds craves physicality. He possesses a broad frame at 6-foot-6, 325 pounds, with just under 34-inch arms, and once the helmet goes on, he’s an absolute monster. The 23-year-old is a force on the offensive line who can dominate with heavy hands and produce devastating pop.

If the Ravens keep an extra tackle, Pounds’ biggest competition in camp will probably be Gerad Lichtenhan. Lichtenhan made the practice squad last year and did fairly well in the 2025 preseason. If Pounds wants to make a strong case for the 53-man roster, or at worst, the practice squad, it starts with unseeding Lichtenhan on the offensive tackle depth chart.

Of course, Pounds will need to break out if he wants a realistic shot at the active roster. The offensive line room is pretty crowded as it is, and with bigger needs on the interior, the Ole Miss product might simply be given the short end of the stick once it’s time for cuts. However, if he can become an unignorable summer standout, he’ll make the front office’s decisions extremely tough.
