Despite all the excitement following a wild offseason, the Baltimore Ravens aren’t free from the stress of contract talks. Sure, the team looks much stronger heading into 2026, but there’s a different issue that could soon arise.

Baltimore has to figure out their extensions. The obvious one is the deal with Lamar Jackson, which is sticking out like a sore thumb due to an unbelievably high cap hit looming in 2027. However, there could be urgency growing around a different star’s future, too: Zay Flowers.

The Atlanta Falcons extended Drake London on Tuesday, making him the NFL's third-highest-paid wideout on a per-year basis. That makes life a bit more expensive for the Ravens. Thankfully, for any fans that might be worried, Flowers gave them the peace of mind earlier that Tuesday at OTAs. He made it clear he’d love to stay in Charm City for the long haul.

Baltimore Ravens’ top target eases fans’ worries with clear loyalty

The Ravens and general manager Eric DeCosta have already said that they’re fully interested in extending Flowers, and the two-time Pro Bowler evidently feels the same way about staying with the organization that drafted him. It takes two to tango, and although Flowers mentioned he’ll let his management take care of negotiations, it’s clear where his heart lies.

It’d really be organizational malpractice if Baltimore weren’t able to find a way to retain Flowers. He’s grown such a great connection with Lamar Jackson, and it feels like that if Jackson inks an extension, one for Flowers would be coming sometime soon after. The two are best friends, and when they’re locked in on the field, they’re an impossible duo to stop. That’s been evident through Flowers’ recent rise to being one of the top targets in the NFL over the past couple of seasons.

Of course, the Ravens and Flowers still have plenty of time to figure the whole contract situation out. They made the easy decision to exercise his fifth-year option in April, which will pay the 25-year-old $27.298 million in 2027, per Spotrac.

That gives Baltimore two years before they truly need to make a decision on his next contract. But the hope should be that it comes soon, rather than waiting until that deadline. The wide receiver market is reaching unforeseen levels; his next deal is only going to become more lucrative and simply unpredictable if DeCosta and company keep waiting around.

Regardless, it’s good to know that both parties are very interested in keeping this successful partnership going. Just three years into his career, Flowers has already made a case for being the Ravens’ best wide receiver of all time. Baltimore would be foolish to fumble that away. They should look to grant Flowers’ wish soon and work toward making him a Raven for life.
